Some Characteristics of ISA – Industry Standard Architecture Bus are described briefly below.
- It is the most common type early expansion bus.
- It was designed for use in original IBM PC.
- IBM PC – XT used 8 bit bus
- It runs at a clock speed 4.77 MHz in IBM PC.
- Then IBM PC – XT improved the bus design, used 16 bits pf data at a time.
- Now more improved AT bus provides 24 bits address lines which allowed 16 MB of memory.
