Integrated Circuit (IC)

IC is a  miniature electronic device consisting of many semiconductor device. Millions of transistor, capacitor and resistor devices are integrated on the IC circuit board.

Generation of IC and Transistor numbers

SSI = Small Scale Integration (< 10 transistors)

MSI = Medium Scale Integration (100 to 1K transistors)

LSI = Large Scale Integration (1K to 20K transistors)

VLSI = Very Large Scale Integration (20K to 100K transistors)

ULSI = Ultra Large Scale Integration (100K to 1000K transistors).
