AUW Student Receives Scholarship from HSBC
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) and the Asian University
for Women (AUW) in Chittagong have signed an agreement to award a scholarship of fifty
thousand pounds (£50,000) to a meritorious student of the Asian University for Women over
a five year period.
The selected student has been awarded the scholarship based on her meritocracy and will
be identified as an HSBC Scholar at AUW. She is a first year undergraduate student, who is
planning to major in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at AUW.
The purpose of the programme is to provide an undergraduate scholarship to a deserving
talent. The programme will provide up to £10,000 in the first year and for each subsequent
year of study until 5 years, subject to satisfactory progression and performance in the
following academic years.
The award was announced jointly by Mr. Robert S. Hermelin, Head of Human Resources,
HSBC Bangladesh and John Schroeder, Interim Dean of Faculty, AUW in presence of
teachers of the university, Abdullah Al Jubayer, Corporate Sustainability Manager, HSBC
Bangladesh and other HSBC officials.
