What is linear programming?

Linear programming is a technique for the purpose of allocation of limited resources in an optimum manner.

It is the technique used in optimum allocation of resource in the organization.

Features of linear programming:

  1. Objective function:  A function from the problem for maximization of profit and minimization of costs.
  2. Constraints: Constraints are the restrictions imposed on decision variables.
  3. Non negative conditions: Conditions should be non-negative otherwise whole technique will be rendered useless.
  4. Linear Relationship: The various relationships to be expressed either in the form of equations or inequalities must be linear.
